BREAKING NEWS: Official English translation of Synod’s Final Report appears suddenly on Vatican website

30 October 2014, 1551hrs GMT: The official English translation of Synod’s Final Report has appeared suddenly on the Vatican website: http://press.vatican.va/content/salastampa/en/bollettino/pubblico/2014/10/18/0770/03044.html

Maria Madise, Voice of the Family’s coordinator, commented: “Voice of the Family expresses our relief that the official English translation of the Synod’s Final Report has been published today. We also express our exasperation with, and our lack of confidence, in the Synod’s organisers. Almost two weeks have passed since the end of the Synod, with no translations of the Final Report until this afternoon. This contrasts markedly – and suspiciously – with the immediate translation of the Synod’s scandalous mid-way report, into five languages. That mid-way report put the Church, in the words of Cardinal William Napier, “in a virtually irredeemable position”. Also suspiciously, the Final Report’s English translation is not dated with today’s date, but has been back-dated to 18 October, at the Synod’s end.”

The following truths are at the heart of Voice of the Family’s work:

  • Sacramental marriage, binding parents together in an indissoluble union, is the greatest protector of children both born and unborn.
  • The artificial separation of the unitive and procreative dimensions of the sexual act is a major catalyst of the culture of death.
  • Parents are the primary educators of their children and it is through the education and formation of parents, and future parents, that the culture of life will be built
